Caremate comes with three pieces of equipment: the pendant, a cordless phone and base station.

The Pendant

The pendant is small and lightweight and is designed to be with you at all times. A lanyard is provided so you can wear the pendant around your neck just like a necklace. The pendant has a button on the front – whenever you need to activate the Caremate system, simply push the button once and Caremate will automatically call your Nominated Carers and, if they don’t answer, the Caremate Care Centre (See “Care Centre”).

Pendant Features

The pendant has its own microphone and speaker – this means you can speak hands free via the pendant. This is important because:

In emergency situations, you will be able activate Caremate and communicate comfortably in and around your home (within the coverage area). It makes no difference if you are in the garden, the garage or in a running shower in the bathroom, you’ll be able to talk and listen comfortably.

You can answer all your incoming calls via the pendant in the coverage area. This means no more rushing to the phone to answer it. This is convenient for anyone with limited movement because calls can be answered while in bed, in a comfortable chair or even while gardening. When the phone rings, just push the button on the pendant and start talking! The Caremate pendant microphone and speaker is of high quality making communication easy.

Coverage Area - make and receive calls up to 50 metres from the Caremate cordless phone base station (depending on house construction).

Water resistant – wear the pendant in the shower (but not the bath)

The pendant comes with its own charger. We recommend charging on the bedside table at night so it is in arms reach if needed.

The pendant makes communicating easier and makes life a little bit less stressful.

The Cordless Phone and Base Station

The Caremate cordless phone has a colour screen and is a fully featured DECT telephone. It can be used for everyday use in and around the home and compliments the use of your pendant.

The choice is yours – You may choose to replace your existing home phone with the Caremate cordless phone. Or you may prefer to continue using your existing phone. Either way, the Caremate cordless phone and base station must be plugged in and be active.

If you have an answering machine attached to your home phone, its operation will not be impacted: just continue to use it as usual.

The base station is the unit that connects the pendant and cordless phone to the home phone line and keeps the cordless phone charged. The base station needs to be plugged in to normal mains power.
