Whenever help is needed, simply push the pendant button once to activate Caremate.

The Call Sequence

When activated, Caremate will automatically call:

alt Your first Nominated Carer. If they don’t answer....
alt Your second Nominated Carer is called. If they don’t answer......
alt The Caremate Care Centre is called where caring and professionally trained Telecare Consultants will answer your call – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The call sequence is flexible – you may elect to have only one Nominated Carer, or you may decide not to have a Nominated Carer at all. In this case, Caremate will only call the Caremate Care Centre. (The Care Centre can be instructed to call particular people whenever they have received a call from you, if you wish).

Nominated Carers

When registering, you will be asked to provide two Nominated Carers and their phone numbers. These will be the first and second call Caremate makes when activated. Nominated Carers should be people that know you and preferably live nearby so that they are able to help when required. Nominated Carers are usually family, friends or neighbours and can also be anyone who takes responsibility for your wellbeing. As noted above, you may elect to have only one Nominated Carer, or none at all.

When Nominated Carers receive a Caremate call, they may elect to hold the call to continue talking with you, ie prevent Caremate from making further calls. This may apply in non-emergency situations where they may be able to help directly, or for social calls.

When Caremate Calls your Nominated Carers

Sometimes, your Nominated Carers may not be able to answer your call and the following may be encountered: the number is engaged, out of range, rings out, answering machine answers, Telstra announcements etc. None of these situations poses a problem because Caremate will automatically call the next number until someone answers and “acknowledges” the call from you.

Remember, if your Nominated Carers are unable to answer, the Caremate Care Centre is there as the ultimate back up, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
